*Position Summary:*

The School of Visual Arts seeks applications for an Assistant or Associate
Professor, tenure-track faculty position in the Visual Communication
Design (VCD)
Program with a specialization in graphic and interactive design.
Responsibilities include teaching a 2/2 teaching load of undergraduate and
graduate courses from beginning to advanced levels of interactive and
graphic design; developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate
curriculum; providing creative direction and scholarship; maintaining a
strong national/international creative research agenda; facilitating
design studios;
and advising students. Faculty are expected to participate in school,
college and university level service and outreach programs including
collaboration and cross-disciplinary work with other programs within the
School of Visual Arts (SOVA), committee work, and administrative duties.

The School of Visual Arts (SOVA) is housed within the College of
Architecture and Urban Studies. Within three areas of SOVA (VCD, Studio
Arts and Art History), VCD has between 55 and 80 students. The school also
offers an MFA in Creative Technologies, an MA in Material Culture, and an
individualized Ph.D. in Human-Centered Design. Information can be found at:

*Pay Range:*

$63K – $75K commensurate with education, experience, & rank.


*Required Qualifications:*

Terminal professional degree (M.F.A. or equivalent). Record of excellence
in one or more of the following areas: web design; application development;
motion graphics; e-publication design; graphic or visual design; and
interactive media. Proven ability to teach core VCD courses including
Introductory /Intermediate / Advanced Graphic Design. Demonstrated ability
to teach additional courses depending on area of specialization (including
Intro and Intermediate Web Design, App Design, Motion Graphics, and/or
E-Publication etc.). A broad understanding of contemporary and traditional
art and design practice and theory relating to Visual Communication Design.
