Dear All,
We currently have a PhD opportunity at Plymouth University (UK) for a student to work on the tectonic evolution of the Oman ophiolite using palaeomagnetic and structural techniques.
The project is entitled "Intraoceanic rotation of the southern Oman ophiolite" and the supervisory team consists of Prof Antony Morris, Dr Luca Menegon and Prof Chris MacLeod (Cardiff).
Full details can be found from a link on our Centre for Research in Earth Sciences (CRES) website:
http://www1.plymouth.ac.uk/research/cres/Pages/Opportunities.aspx
I would be grateful if you could bring this project to the attention of outstanding students looking for a PhD in this field of research. This is one of several projects currently advertised for a single funded position, and the studentship will be awarded to the best overall candidate.
The deadline for applications is 25th June 2014, and all applications must be submitted via the Plymouth University on-line system (see the link above for details).
Any enquiries about the project should be directed to me by e-mail ([log in to unmask]), but please note that I am currently at sea on IODP Expedition 351 "Izu-Bonin-Mariana Arc Origins" in the Pacific so there may be a delay in e-mail responses. Please ensure that enquiries are not copied to the entire mailing list!
Best wishes,
Tony Morris
