Dear colleagues,
I'm writing to ask for your help in publicising a survey that is currently running for UK-based researchers in the humanities and social sciences.
This survey is designed and managed by a coalition of funders and projects which are looking at the future of monographs, led by OAPEN-UK (http://oapen-uk.jiscebooks.org/). It will form part of an evidence base that will be used to help underpin future strategies for supporting monograph publishing in the UK, and will be an important input into the HEFCE Monographs and Open Access Project (background information: http://www.hefce.ac.uk/whatwedo/rsrch/rinfrastruct/oa/monographs/).
We would be very grateful if you could invite humanities and social science researchers within your institution to participate in the survey. We are offering them the chance to enter a prize draw for up to £100 of Amazon vouchers as a small token of appreciation for their time and effort.
We offer some suggested wording for the invitation below, but please feel free to adapt or amend it as necessary.
If you have any questions, please do get in touch with the survey researcher, Ellen Collins, on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Ellen
Please help a major research project to understand how you use books.
OAPEN-UK, an AHRC and Jisc-funded project on open access monographs, is currently running a survey to understand how researchers in the humanities and social sciences use books, and especially monographs.
The survey design has been informed by a range of funders including HEFCE and Jisc, and the findings will help build an evidence base for future policies to support monograph publishing in the UK.
No identifiable data will be made public or shared beyond the OAPEN-UK project team. All respondents to the survey can enter a prize draw to win up to £100 of Amazon vouchers.
I hope you'll spare 10-15 minutes to participate, and to help the researchers understand what you want as both authors and readers of books.
The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/K96XZD5
If you have any questions, please contact the survey researcher, Ellen Collins, on [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
