Hi all,

Our Shibboleth authentication appears to have been restored as well.

All,

We have been using IP as a temporary fix but now find Shibboleth is working again.

All,

For information: I constructed WAYFless links using WUGEN, http://wugen.ukfederation.org.uk/urlgenerator/login.jsp, but changed the URL in step 3 from http://shibboleth.ebscohost.com/ to whatever database target was required, eg: for Academic Search Complete, use:

http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=shib&profile=ehost&defaultdb=a9h

This is then encoded by WUGEN to form the target. So for our IdP the WAYFless link is: https://shibboleth.ebscohost.com/Shibboleth.sso/Login?entityID=https%3A%2F%2Fshibsles.brunel.ac.uk%2Fidp%2Fshibboleth&target=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebscohost.com%2Flogin.aspx%3Fauthtype%3Dshib%26profile%3Dehost%26defaultdb%3Da9h

You'll just need to change the 3-character database code to match each of your EBSCOhost databases.

It would be useful to know this type of link would resolve your access issues or not. It might save users from having to use the workaround.

Dom

DMU now have access to EBSCO databases following some helpful advice from Dom at Brunel. I have contacted EBSCO to state we now have a working connection once again - not sure if there planned system update has been run or not (waiting for confirmation). If it hasn't yet run, then we will have to monitor what happens after the maintenance!

It is also still down for us via Shibboleth authentication. We do not use IP address authentication.

Subject: Re: [lis-e-resources] Access to Ebsco databases via Shibboleth

I tested off campus at 08:30 this morning and I could access EBSCO databases via both Shibboleth and EZproxy. I checked our EZproxy messages log and a hiatus occurred between 2014-04-29 19:14:50 and 2014-04-29 21:00:20, so it looks like IP-based access was resolved eventually last evening. Access seems to be okay on campus this morning via IP and Shibboleth sessions.

I received this information from the EZproxy list last evening: "If you visit support.ebsco.com [or http://support.epnet.com/] > System Alerts [http://support.ebsco.com/support_news/alerts/] > you will see Shibboleth Access Issues Reported<http://support.ebsco.com/support_news/detail.php?id=839&t=r&page=1>."

There aren’t any alerts about IP-based access issues but we certainly had some and other sites in the USA reported them too. I note that there is an EBSCOhost software update scheduled for today but there is no time noted: http://support.ebsco.com/support_news/detail.php?id=838&t=r&page=1
