thanks everyone for all replies and suggestions. Hogg, Roeg and Skolimowski are closer to what I'm thinking, but not really it. I'll check out Bill Douglas. Breaking the Waves is quite close. half of these are not British filmmakers. maybe we just don't do God. Actually, the best I can describe is the caravan scene in A Canterbury Tale.
