We never ran Promissor, so did not have any pre-conceived ideas. Was a
bit fiddly to get a test run. But the exam we did in December ran
smoothly without any problems. Test was on 13 December and results were
in by the 10th of January which I thought was not too shabby considering
the holidays.

In our experience they come back very quickly, we ran the pilot last
march as well as exams in June.

Subject: Re: NG BTEC Onscreen Testing

Hello all

We are hoping to run some of these next week but have only just today
managed to complete the dummy tests and therefore get our centre
activated to schedule the tests.

We have a lot of students requiring readers and have been told that the
only way to get this approved is to schedule the tests and then apply
using the edexcelonline system. Has anyone had to do this and if so how
long does it take for the approval to come back?

It is very annoying that we now have 3 different testing software
requirements for Pearsonvue (BTEC, Promissor and CITB/CSCS)!!

Many thanks

Mark

We ran our first set last week. Not overly impressed. Initial set up
was a nightmare. Multiple calls to Service Operations and pot luck with
getting someone who knew what they were talking about. Eventually got
the system up and running. Booking on Edexcel online is simple.
Downloading the tests via the Administrator dashboard and setting them
up via the Invigilator Dashboard seems needlessly complicated. Running
on exam day isn’t bad although all tests have to be started by the
invigilator. We have a second round later this week so well see how it
goes now we have a bit more experience.

Hi

mmmm...

we will in all likelihood be running these from this September.

What technical set ups do we need? We already have promissor for other
BTEC online tests that we run for apprenticeship learners - is the NG
software different?

Subject: NG BTEC Onscreen Testing

Hi All

We have just run our first set of NG BTEC Onscreen tests and are now
worried for the future. In particular:

1. The system is very pernickety with complex architecture with:

a). a server service,
b). a client for the exams team,
c). another client for the invigilator, d). a third set of clients for
the candidates.

Keeping all of these running and up to date looks a major task.

2. There are multiple stages to getting the exams into a condition to
be run, all of which have to be done in order.

3. The turnaround for results seems very slow at 28-56 days. This does
not compare well to other awarding organisations.

4. There is no EDI upload for booking the exams.

Is anyone else running these exams and if so would you be willing to
share your experiences?

Regards

Duncan
