Dear Colleague,
Just a quick follow-up on the conference.
Firstly, thanks to everyone who supported the conference without whose help it wouldn't have happened. I hope it met everyone's expectations and certainly the feedback so far has been very positive. It looks likely to have opened to way to making the desired impact on future strategy development and policy and I believe many new bridges have been built. More on the policy development front will follow in due course.
For those unable to attend the majority of the presentations are now loaded on the website www.pathologysummit2013.org.uk together with links to the YouTube 'Big Brother Room' videos.
E-Health Insider have picked up on the issues and yesterday published a piece on Pathology IT and the National Pathology Programme. http://www.ehi.co.uk/Features/item.cfm?&docId=413 This will hopefully help raise the profile of the service and the importance of IT and may lead to further publicity in the new year.
Finally, in parallel, Right Care have now released the NHS Atlas of Variation in Diagnostic Services http://www.rightcare.nhs.uk/index.php/atlas/diagnostics-the-nhs-atlas-of-variation-in-diagnostics-services - this demonstrates the power and extent of 'Biggish' pathology data for gaining general health insights.
You may wish to share any or all of this with colleagues.
Happy to receive any comments or ideas on what we should do next year as a follow-up.
Best wishes,
Rick Jones - on behalf the Conference Team and NPP
