Dear all,
The Fahamu Refugee Programme is currently asked to provide expert evidence on a UK asylum appeal concerning a Palestinian from Egypt, who is threatened to be returned to Egypt, on a 'visitor's visa'. He had overstayed his exit visa and unable to renew his residency permit by the deadline because he was in the UK and feared return during the 'Egyptian Revolution'. He decided to seek asylum, was rejected, and now threatened to be returned.
We require information to convince the UKBA that this Palestinian from Egypt cannot be returned now because he has no residence permit or travel document. The idea, put forward by UKBA, that he could get a visitor's visa to return must be challenged.
Any sources/ knowledge of the fate of such Palestinians who have attempted to return been returned to Egypt with or without a visitor's visa (what would this visa be stamped on?). after their exit permit has expired? Would such persons be willing to give personal statements of their own experience? We would need name, email and telephone number.
Please contact Violeta at [log in to unmask] with any information. Unfortunately we are very short on time so please contact us with info ASAP.
Thank you very much to all.
