We now have a fantastic opportunity for a talented media relations professional to join us. We are looking for someone with substantial experience working in the press office of a major science or research organisation or as a trained journalist.
Reporting to the Media Relations Manager, you will be responsible for seeking out and researching stories about Wellcome Trust research and initiatives that are likely to interest the media, and for developing and delivering media strategies, including briefings for journalists and spokespeople. You will have a good eye for a story and the ability to turn complex research findings into engaging story ideas that capture the attention of the national media and help raise the profile of the Wellcome Trust. You will bring a creative approach to the role and good contacts, and have the ability to develop relationships with scientists, journalists and other stakeholders. An excellent knowledge of the science media landscape, including traditional and new media, is essential.
We offer a salary of c.£37,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.
