Looking on the PMIP support unit website - some variation depending on gender and age group but between 12 and 26% of labs report PTH as ng/L rather than pmol/L.

I think you misunderstood me Clodagh. It would be much easier for the
registry if all results were returned as pmol/L, would save the registry
having to convert.
best wishes

It should not be too difficult for the Renal Registry to change their
units so that the move is all towards pmol/L. Copying in the current
chair.

The Renal Registry audits the PTH data in pmol/L. Renal Units report to
the registry in both pmol/L and ng/L - the latter are converted on
receipt. Much better if we all harmonised. Just takes time to ensure all
parties are aware and have time to modify their protocols.
best wishes

Subject: PTH reporting units
We are looking to change our PTH reporting units to pmol/L in line with
Pathology Harmony. There has been some concerns raised by the renal
physicians with regards the impact it will have on renal
networks/viewing cumulative results.
Could I just check how many labs across the country are using pmol/L,
particularly those providing services to renal networks..
Many thanks
Denise
