The course is being run by Terry Kendrick, who originally trained as a librarian and then had an international career as a strategic marketing planning consultant for over 20 years working on marketing projects in 19 countries for over 50 organisations. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Marketing at the University of East Anglia and has been a long time CILIP trainer. Terry is the author of the 2006 Facet publication "Developing strategic plans that really work: a toolkit for public libraries".
By the end of this session delegates will be able to identify and construct real marketing messages for specific user groups and devise a strategy for how to implement them.

Marketing - what this means in a library context
Identifying the value you have to market - how to really get attention
Communications - making sure someone is listening
Developing effective marketing messages - what should we say to them?
Implementing marketing ideas - the importance of preparing the way
What are the barriers to implementation and how can you plan to remove these.
