I think the main questions here are: who are the contributors, what
constitutes the contribution and how we must share the credit?
Researchers are supposed to contribute to the body of knowledge in their
field of study and for the contribution they make, they are given the
credit. If this is so, what if we establish the relationship between
knowledge & researchers as babies & their parents. So, if within that piece
of knowledge (the Baby) there are the DNAs of researchers, photographers',
analysts' works, they are the parents of that new-born piece of knowledge in
one way or another and as a result, they must be credited for. Otherwise,
their role would be rather helpful & important but not causative.
Regards,
Mohammad

Subject: Credit for photographic materials in research publications
Dear all,
I would like to solicit your opinion and wisdom on the matter of crediting
an author for the photographic documentation of a project that is used in a
research article.
If the photographer is already also one of the authors of the article, is
there a problem in crediting him or her also as the author of some of the
visual documentation used?
Will the reviewers of the article consider this a strange practice?
Are there any general (better) practices regarding these matters?
Thanks in advance for your help with this matter!
Best regards,
Lily
