Applications are invited for a Trials Unit Lead Statistician/Senior Medical Statistician to be based at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford, and reporting to Professor Doug Altman and Professor Sallie Lamb.
The Oxford Clinical Trials Research Unit (OCTRU) integrates five existing trials groups within the University of Oxford, under one “Hub” which will lead and co-ordinate strategy, operations and systems. The vision is to build on existing excellence in design, conduct and reporting in both early and later phase clinical trials in surgery, musculo-skeletal sciences, respiratory medicine, gastroenterology and oncology.
The OCTRU Statistical Lead will be central to the strategic aspirations of OCTRU, and their main responsibilities will include developing, leading, and managing a team of statisticians, ensuring high quality statistical input into all aspects of clinical trials and related work within OCTRU and the CSM, participating in or leading medical statistical methodological research projects, and contributing to teaching and research within CSM.
You must possess a PhD in Medical Statistics or equivalent. Your experience will include, but not be limited to, having worked as a trial statistician; statistical input into clinical research leading to publications; a track record of contributing to and successfully securing research funding; acting as trial statistician for CTIMP studies, pragmatic clinical trials and/or complex observational studies evidenced by a publication record; conducting advanced statistical analysis. This post will also involve travelling to meetings in the local area and occasional longer journeys including overnight stays.
This is a full-time fixed-term appointment for 5 years in the first instance.
