Dear all,
Although I'm writing as a plea for the most active members here to not stop participating, I'm also provided with the opportunity to say thank you for giving me acces to such a rich series of arguments on Design Studies for so many years.
I've been following the list since I first started working on my PhD and it's usually provided me with insight on many interesting aspects of this discipline (being such in both bibliography as well as university curricula), as well as grounded arguments that led my own way of inquiring upon either my own preoccupations, or the occasional subject at hand.
Given the high level of the structured opinions submited here and the authority of the people who subit them, it can in fact be very intimidating to participate and I've been familiar with that feeling many times. At the same time though, and for the same reason, this list has acted for me (and my guess is for many) as a guidline and an ever-evolving, let alone current, overview of the discourse on the occasional subject; it is in that sense that I find the contributions of the most prominent members here invaluabe, and their continuing involvement an imperative.
On that note, I also find value in the occasional fight as it becomes by form also a mirror and, at the same time, a ground of discourse on the ethics involved with the practices concerning this discipline. In that aspect, involving people who carry 'weight' behind their arguments (e.g. by their research background and track record) is priceless, irrespectively of the structure and validity of the arguments themselves which, in turn, merely give you a point of judgment.
Having said all that, I wanted once again to thank you and plea for this large "coffee break" to keep going.
My warmest regards from Greece,
Angelos Psilopoulos.
