Dear Colleagues,
There has been a tradition first started at the 2005 conference of
offering conference fee waivers and/or financial support to presenters
from less well off countries where universities are typically unable to
support their staff to attend conferences. These scholarships have
traditionally been paid out of the small profits made from the preceding
conference. We plan to repeat this procedure again for the 2013
conference. The requirements for eligibility for a scholarship are as
follows:
1. Applicants must have had a proposal accepted for the conference. In
the case of applicants who may be submitting under the extended call for
papers on teaching writing in languages other than English sent out this
week, the scholarship will be dependent on the presentation (workshop or
symposium) being accepted.
2. The applicant must submit a statement justifying their application
for a fee waiver and financial support to [log in to unmask] with the
subject line "Request for EATAW Scholarship" by latest 2 April 2013.
3. Applicants resident in Hungary will be eligible only for fee waiver.
Applicants from outside Hungary will be eligible for fee waiver and
financial support up to €250 per person.
4. Applications will be evaluated after 2 April by a committee who will
consider them on the merits of both the statement and the conference
abstract. We hope to make decision within a week to ten days from
receiving applications.
With best wishes,
John
