medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: "Olson, Linda" <[log in to unmask]>
>I am trying to investigate the contents of some French medieval manuscripts
at the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. I've already seen its digitized
manuscript catalogues on Gallica. About half of the fr & naf catalogues are
not available there yet, though, so my question for you: would you know of
another online source for these catalogues?
i put a similar query to the list last year, Linda, and had very little Joy
--at least in finding any of the modern catalogs on line at that time (i'd
certainly like to hear if that situation has changed).
but one of Brother Dillon's helpful responses led me to the multi-volume
catalog of the Bibliotheque du Roi, which is on Gallica and in which i was
able to find (with some difficulty) a brief description of the ms. i was
looking for.
what you want is
[l’ abbé] Guillaume de Villefroy, Catalogus codicum manuscriptorum
Bibliothecae regiae. Paris: Typografia Regia, 1739-1744. 4 vol. [I: mss.
orientales; II: mss. graecos; III: mss. latinos; IV: mss. Latinos]
but, apparently there either isn't a volume devoted to the French mss. or,
perhaps, i did not grab it because it wasn't of interest to me.
as it turns out, i see now that i did not find them on gallica but on
books.google --or i can send you my copy(s) off-list if you wish.
finding anything on books.google is always a Royal Pain.
but, does anyone know of any further on-line publication of the 20th c. Bn
cats?
