Dear colleagues,
One of our clinicians would like to investigate a possible diagnosis of pellagra in a patient with suspected carcinoid syndrome. Are there any labs that offer testing that may help confirm such a diagnosis, for example, plasma tryptophan or niacin measurement, RBC NAD/NADP, or urinary N-methyl nicotinamide or 2-pyridone? I have no hits on AssayFinder. I don’t have much experience in this area, could they give nicotinamide and see if symptoms resolve?
Any guidance appreciated.
Kind regards,
Phil
