Thanks for your note. There is little to add to your reply: “I disagree with you profoundly and in so many ways that it would take a lifetime of responses to this list to even scratch the surface. Life is too short. … It's probably better to simply regard my comments as provocations, invitations to reflect rather than opportunities to attack and dismiss.”
As you saw from the care I gave to my reply, I neither attacked you nor dismissed your views. My reply was a respectful disagreement.
It seemed to me that people who linked to your blog might wish to read the report for themselves or review the conference archive. Everyone can make up his or her own mind on what they mean or add up to.
For now, I acknowledge the fact that you disagree with me and leave it at that.
