Coming from a school toward the top of the list (#3), I find this survey amazingly accurate and well done!
In keeping with the ‘laughing’ tone of this thread…
JUST KIDDING!!
From my context I have two thoughts about why this survey’s methods may preference some good schools over others: size and longevity.
UC/DAAP has been graduating a large number (100+ per year) for a long time (60+ years). Because of our co-op program and an intense 5-year (year-round) curriculum (a lot of design courses plus a University gen-ed context) most of our graduates tend to go into and stay in the professions a long time. We’re aware of this in part because a not insubstantial number of our co-op employers are alumni heading a firm or holding in a senior position in one. I’ve taught the adult children of students I taught 30 years ago!
Any 'democratic' method of voting naturally preferences any good school that graduates a lot of students over a lot of years just because it has a lot of people voting (the 57% of respondents who were art directors or product designers).
We’re aware that there are other good schools who are disadvantaged in this kind of survey. You can be sure, we’re not taking our ‘ranking’ too seriously or looking down on the many other good schools who weren't on the list. Let's see, ins't there a design school in Delft, and one in Eindhoven, and Basel, and Wuppertal, and Berlin, and way far away in Australia, and etc..
