Dear Librarians, LIS academics, book worms,
As the proud author of "Library World Records" I am putting finishing touches to a new 3rd edition of my reference book, first published in 2004 and a 2nd edition in 2009.
The new 3rd edition will most probably be the last major revision for this exciting reference about libraries and books/manuscripts superlatives, as I plan to concentrate on doing mostly fiction work for my next book projects after the 3rd edition is finished.
Thus I am planning for a big major revision of the 3rd edition of "Library World Records." to ensure the 3rd edition will be the mother of all editions. A grand finale for a reference book that was so hard Dear Librarians, LIS academics, book worms,
As the author of "Library World Records" I am putting finishing touches to the 3rd edition of my reference book, first published in 2004 and a 2nd edition in 2009.
The new 3rd edition will most probably be the last major revision for this exciting reference about library and book/manuscript superlatives, as I plan to concentrate on doing mostly fiction work for my next book projects after the 3rd edition is finished.
Thus I am planning for a big major revision of the 3rd edition of "Library World Records." to ensure the 3rd edition will be the mother of all editions. A grand finale for a reference book that was hard to research for me, but very much enjoyable to read by others.
Among other things, the new edition will:
a) Contain several new features such as very detailed information on all sources and a comprehensive bibliography and expanded index (useful for researchers or academics of the new book).
b) Provide twice as many photos as provided in the 2nd edition and now with colour photographs.
c) Offer several new chapters / lists, thus almost doubling the total pages of the 2nd edition.
It will be somewhere in mid 2013, when I finally finish the first draft of the book project for my U.S. publishers (research work has been ongoing since summer 2010). There is just so much to update and rewrite and I hope I am able to cover as much as possible in our diverse library and book world heritage past and present.
To this end can I request librarians (who have read the book!) email me any further facts or details about ancient books, manuscripts/inscriptions) that I left out in the 2nd edition, which I can incorporate to my already bulging draft manuscript of the book.
Any facts emailed will be appreciated, and if you do not have the sources for the fact, no worries, I will chase up the sources/references for any emailed fact in the various libraries I am currently using for my research work.
Thank you very much.
