SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
CALL FOR PAPERS

EAEA 11 2013 MILANO

11th Conference of the European Architectural Envisioning Association:

Envisioning Architecture: Design, Evaluation, Communication

 >>> Deadline for abstracts Submission | 15 November 2012 <<<

----------------------------------------

CONFERENCE THEME

The Politecnico di Milano will host the 11th EAEA Envisioning Architecture: Design, Evaluation, Communication Conference in 2013.

Following the mission of the association, the conference is meant to be a platform for communication and exchange of experiences, experimentation, research and collaboration in the field of environmental simulation in architecture and urban design. In particular, a focus on three tracks is proposed for the EAEA11, namely:

Track 1 | Visualizing Sustainability: making the invisible visible
Track 2 | Experiential Simulation: the sensorial perception of the built environment
Track 3 | Conceptual Representation: Exploring the layout of the built environment

The first track will explore how the representation of sustainability is used in architecture and urban design. The second track will focus on the perception of the built environment, in order to explore techniques to integrate sensorial aspects in the design process. The third theme will investigate aspects concerning the conceptual (abstract) visualization, and therefore, the layout and the elements of the architectural and the urban space. (More details on the tracks on the conference website).

The three tracks will be detailed taking into account:

Innovative experiences from the research world, from teaching and professional practice, investigating the various stages of design: composition, evaluation and communication of design projects.
Applications to case studies and at different scales: from architecture to urban planning.
The use of different techniques of design, from hand drawing to CAD design, to BIM and parametric design.

TOPICS COVERED

EAEA11 invites submissions of research papers on the following topics:

    Architectural and urban simulation
Sustainable design, with focus on representation of environmental aspects and indicators and communication of sustainability.
Experiential architecture and urbanism (perception of the built environment, sound-scapes, tactile architecture, smell-scapes, and so on)
Representation of architecture and the built environment, both innovative and traditional ways of envisioning architecture and the built environment (hand drawing, CAD, BIM, algorithmic and parametric design)
Teaching and education dealing with representation, simulation and visualization of architecture and the built environment in general
The use of simulation in the professional field (private and public sectors)
Industry research (digital and physical tools for simulation)

CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS

The conference proceedings will be published before the conference opening.
The best papers will be invited to submit an article for a scientific publication. We are finalizing an agreement with a scientific online journal. News on this topic will follow soon.
The official language of the conference is English, both for papers and presentations.
