I'd add that once you have viewed Google's excellent and short video tutorials on sketchup, it's incredibly easy to use and very intuitive.

It's maybe not what you have in mind, but have you considered building your 3D model in Google Earth? They provide a SketchUp tool to do this, based on photos etc, and some of the results are amazing. I see Google have have run competitions in the past to encourage people to take this up: one of the recent winners was an architect who has modelled pretty much the entire town of Dursley in Gloucestershire. Having your site modelled in Google Earth would mean that it was viewable on the Internet, and the model could serve as a link to your web site and other resources.
