It seems to me that those are very distinct and different.
A museum may have a website, staff may post on facebook and twitter, yet the museum may not have any digital interactives at all., vice-versa, a museum might have had digital interactives, but no Facebook, Twitter or other online social media involvement.
I don't see how you can lump them together and draw any useful conclusions.
I know of a museum that had digital interactives using Internet technology well before social media was a concept.
