Subject: Create list question: limiting by publication date
Hello to all
Can I ask a quick create list question. I am sure I have done this in the past but not working now. I want a list of records with publication date older than 2000 I have done 260|c less than 2000 and also done 260|c not within 2000-2012. Both options bring up records with publication date within this range. What am I doing wrong??
Thanks

An additional thought, could be useful to have the job number with Innovative for those who want to get it changed.
Think we are going to go to direct to BL webform ordering here -with us transposing the info to the form from Mill.

Subject: RFID and Millennium
Hi all
We are tentatively looking at RFID for our library. We almost certainly won't be using if for self-issue and returns, but are investigating it for book security and for stock management functions (stock taking, stock usage, missing books etc.).
My question is: what configuration (in general terms) needs to be done in Millennium to integrate RFID and enable the RFID tag to be read (e.g. which field is used for the RFID code in item records)? I think we would need additional products, but I'm not sure what - I've read about 'Circa' in the manual, but it's difficult to find a good overview of what this product does.
Also, if you have any feedback on how successful RFID has been in your library (in terms of book security and stock management), that would be very useful too.
Any advice or pointers to further information gratefully received.
Many thanks

Subject: Re: RFID and Millennium
Hi Louise
We do use RFID for issue and return but we don't use any field in Millennium - we do the reverse and just encode the barcode onto the RFID tag. This is very quick and easy and requires no work in Millennium. During conversion, staff worked along the shelves sticking in RFID tags and encoding them with barcodes using a scanner.
If you don't use RFID for issue/return I'm not sure that usage stats can be recorded on the tag itself so worth checking with your RFID vendor.
Security is fine for us, but not as reliable as the magnetic strip as the RFID radio tag can be masked by things like foil or crisp packets and is more visible so open to vandalism. We do have a PC at the gate however which links to Millennium and flags up the title on screen of un issued book which has triggered the alarm.
In terms of stock control, we have PDAs and wands supplied by our RFID supplier (DTech) which record barcodes and these are basically run against lists from Millennium for stock checking. Running against a shelf order list immediately identified missing and misplaced books not otherwise accounted for by being out on loan and helps find things quickly. Different wands vary in effectiveness and ease of use though so that's down to the manufacturer.
We didn't get Circa - very expensive.
Hope that helps

Maureen,
I don't know if this is of any help but I've run a few review files using:
BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag 260|c less than "2000" AND BIBLIOGRAPHIC MARC Tag
260|c greater than "0"
to eliminate records without the date in 260|c, and got the results I expected. So your first option works for us.

Subject: Re: RFID and Millennium
Hi,
The tag in the book is a barcode that can be read wirelessly.
Stocktaking in it's simplest form - you create a list of barcodes, export the list to a handheld and walk the shelves, scanning with the handheld, comparing the barcodes in the books to the ones in the various lists
For security - The tag will set off an alarm on an rfid gate if the book has not been checked out. This means you need a device such as a pad linked to a pc to change the tag's security status. We have a pad linked to our checkout pc. We also have self service issue and returns kiosks.
Stock mangement has improved big time. Security, we are still having issues with, but is ok. Not as good as EM.
