A couple of weeks ago I posted a question asking about the use of thin client models for providing public PC access. I got two responses from authorities who are currently using thin clients and one from one which had tried a partial Citrix implementation and then reverted to a full client-server solution because of the problems encountered.
Getting multimedia to work on thin clients appeared to be the primary cause of issues, although the problems appeared to manifest themselves in different ways. Other issues reported included USB sticks not working occasionally and problems in integrating with corporate printing solutions.
I'm happy to discuss any issues raised further and hope to be able to feed back any lessons we learn, depending on which route we eventually decide to go down.
