Overview
This is an introductory course for those new to the editorial side of
journals publishing. The course is highly interactive and the emphasis
is on practical problem solving and sharing experience.

• Brief overview of journal publishing and the role of the editorial
office
• The peer review process
• A step-by-step guide to manuscript processing
• Roles, responsibilities and relationships with editors, referees,
authors and publishing partners
• Guidance on efficient journal administration
• A forum for exchanging advice on best practice in the editorial office
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
Understand the role of the editor, the editorial team and reviewers, and
the relationship with these groups;
gain a good understanding of the key tasks required of an editorial
assistant or administrator;
understand the journal review process and author expectations;
gain useful tips on how to manage journal administration efficiently;
gain advice on best practice from peers.
Who should attend:
This course is suitable for editorial assistants, editorial
administrators and anyone who has up to 1 years’ experience in an
editorial administrative capacity.
