Dear Ken (and all for information)
I would be grateful if, when you draw this paper to the list's attention, which you do regularly, you indicate in the two paragraphs of description that the esteem list in the paper is first based on a popularity/familiarity list in a specific collection of design disciplines. It is made quite clear in the paper precisely what the methods used to arrive at the tables are - but taken out of the context in which the tables were arrived at - as references to the contents of the paper seem increasingly to be, may mislead those who have lost, or never formed, the habit of establishing the context for research findings.
Best wishes,
Janet

Subject: Re: papers for journals
Dear Hryssoula,
The design journals list you posted is out of date. I was the lead
author, and it was compiled on a short time line for a specific purpose.
The best and most comprehensive study on serious academic journals will
be found in the current issue of Design Studies. This is the far
superior study led by Gerda Gemser from Delft University of Technology
together with Cees de Bont, Paul Hekkert, and myself.
Gemser, Gerda, Cees de Bont, Paul Hekkert, and Ken Friedman. 2012.

Perspective.” Design Studies (2012).

The rank order is a measure of the esteem in which scholars in the
field of design research hold a journal. In this respect, Design Studies
is considered the leading journal in our field.
Each journal has its own editorial policy. Most journals require that
you submit an article only to one journal at a time. Your choice of
journal is up to you, but some universities prefer specific journals to
meet the requirements of their own research policy or academic profile.
You will find two books particularly helpful with respect to publishing
journal articles:
Silverman, Franklin. 1999. Publishing for Tenure and Beyond. Westport,
Connecticut: Praeger.
Huff, Anne Sigismund. 1999. Writing for Scholarly Publication. Thousand
Oaks, California: Sage Publications.
Another book is very useful on understanding journals, preparing
articles for publication, and knowing what editors and reviewers expect.
This book is written for the publishing in the organizational sciences,
but the advice it gives is excellent for design research as well:
Cummings, L. L. and Peter J. Frost, editors. 1995. Publishing in the
Organizational Sciences. Thousand Oaks, California: Sage Publications.
You don't need to include your CV when you write an article for a
journal. Editors and reviewers don't know who you are. They'll review
your manuscript with your name removed. You won't know who does the
reviewing and the reviewers don't want to know who you are. That is the
basis of double-blind peer review. There are other review systems,
including open review, but in all systems, the article is what counts.
Best regards,
Ken

i am very much interested in knowing the proceedure for submitting a
text-article-paper, to be accepted and be published in one of the
journals, as in the following list. should i choose the appropriate
journal in advance, and thus contact only the specific one, or is there
an accademic committee that judjes upon which journal would be
appropriate for the submitted paper? additionally, the "Rank Order"
suggests the quality rank , ex the "design studies" is of the top
quality, and so on, or does it mean something else?
i would appreciated if you detailed me upom the requirements and the
proccedure, as soon as possible, a copy of my cv is available upon
request,
