Hi Tracy,
I had a case like this quite a few years ago now. It was just after new
boots had been issued. I sent the guy for skin patch testing and it was
something used to treat the leather in his boots that was the problem
(can't remember exactly what so far down the line) Employer provided an
alternative and all was well. You do not say whether anything has
recently changed with this individual (of course it doesn't have to, it
could have taken years for a reaction to happen)If they are new does he
have an old pair that he could wear in the interim that he knows he is
not going to react to?
Sounds like one for Chris?
Kind Regards
Lesley

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] FOOT BLISTERS
Good morning
I have an employee who has foot blisters. He has dealt with these
previosuly by himself but when they increased and stopped him form
walking he was referred to me. I advised that he refrained form work
until blisters healed. Within one day of returning to work the blisters
have returned. I work alone and have no physician support.
Therefore if you were me would you refer to a OH physician -
dermatologist - or back to their own GP.?
I feel it is something to do with the rubber and have requested that I
am informed if the boots contain latex but it could be another alergy.
Secondly as this affects his feet only would you think he is safe to
remain in the work place or is this likely to lead to anaphalaxis as
everyone wears the boots and I am not sure what else in the factory he
could be alergic to yet. Hope this makes sence. Thank you in advance for
your recommendations.
