Hi all,
I have done a few critical literature reviews in my time, some for publication. But there is nothing like a good example to get one started.
I was fortunate as a young researcher to find an excellent example.
Macdonald-Ross, Michael & Smith, Eleanor 1977
Graphics in Text: A Bibliography. IET Monograph No. 6.
Open University , Mylton Keyens
I would commend this to anyone starting out in this field. Indeed I would commend it to anyone with a contemporary interest in such things as web design, where a knowledge of the history of visual communication is notable for its absence.
In later years I have been fortunate to have our Institute's Library to draw upon, with over 15,000 items, many not available digitally or otherwise in other collections. The library is available to all our Members, with the catalogue available online. But that's a whole other topic.
