medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

the Crown of Aragon in the 12th. C., I do agree with Dr. Christopher
Crockett.
he ain't no dangéd "doctor," but thanks you anyway for the confirmation
--clearly, if two people hold the same opinion, and it's on the web, it must
be true.
plus, he was coming from a very different perspective than you were, Dr. H-T,
namely the only article the Old Guy has ever read on the subject:
Georges Duby, “Économie domaniale et économie monétaire: le budget de
l’abbaye de Cluny entre 1080 et 1155,” Annales. Économies, Sociétés,
Civilisations, VII, 1952. pp. 155-171.

(i *think* that that is a public site, but if any one needs a copy of it,
write me off-list.)
> In many knights' or clercs' wills, the expression which also appears in the
Sacramentary does not only mean a pilgrimage to Compostela (most of the times
it has nothing to do with that) but an active role in what used to be called
the "Reconquista" (In Spain a term not politically correct any more)
goodness, mea grosso culpa.
no wonder i'm not a doctor.
>that is the involvement in actions that implied contact with the Muslims.
yes.
yes, i suppose it did.
though "contact," though certainly p.c., might be something of an euphemism.
that's the Thing about Reconquestas --it Takes Two, to Tango. (probably also
not a p.c. phrase, but one i'm stuck with).
