medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
From: Christopher Crockett <[log in to unmask]>
>>(The ms is Avignon BM 178; see Leroquais I: 254-256).
> what's the ms.'s date/provenance?
> if later 11th-early 12th c. & Cluniac, the reference to Spain would
certainly make sense, the order being quite active in the Reconquesta.
my point (the one that's not on the top of my head) was that Cluniac priories
were the staples of both the Reconquesta and the "Pilgrimage Roads," and both
of these would have called for many blessings of monks & laity alike.
btw, am i right that none of Leroquais basic reference works is available in
on-line?
i can only find his Psautiers & Pontificaux in wretched "snippet views" on
books.google.com,
http://books.google.com/books?id=sGEhAQAAMAAJ&q=inauthor:%22Victor+Leroquais%22&dq=inauthor:%22Victor+Leroquais%22&hl=en&ei=0Pq7TpSEFKTg0QH80onYCQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CDYQ6AEwAQ
http://books.google.com/books?id=1q8PAQAAMAAJ&dq=inauthor%3A%22Victor%20Leroquais%22&source=gbs_similarbooks
and http://archive.org doesn't even show up these in an author search.
