medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
Incubation was current all the way through the Middle Ages, and has
survived, at least at some Greek shrines, into the modern period. Mary
Hamilton, Incubation, or The Cure of Disease in Pagan Temples and
Christian Churches (St Andrews and London, 1906), although somewhat
quaintly expressed, has a lot of good material on the ancient, medieval
and modern varieties. I believe it is also available online.
Cheers,
Jim
