From one Phil Jones to another (!) - this is a subject that has had some discussion on the LIS-TALIS mailing list recently (although I'm not sure if you use Talis). It may be worth e-mailing Chris (see below) in a couple of days to see if he had any responses.

Subject: Automatic renewals
Hello,
A quick question to those of you who might be running an "automatic renewals" system (to be honest I don't even know if this is possible with Talis?).
I've been asked by my boss if I could look into this.
If anyone is working in a library that does automatic renewals of books/materials for users if not reserved - would you be able to spare a few minutes to let me know how it works and if you're finding any particular pros and cons to doing this.
Cheers,
Chris
