Hello Anne
I completely agree - a little detail in reports would help shed light on the reasons for
certain recommendations, so that the employee and manager can have some mutual
understanding. I find your comments very reassuring (ie I'm not wrong!); so far however,
Corp OH is standing firm regarding the reports sent to managers, despite the
fact that the fit notes and their details are already in the public domain.
It is a difficult position, but I take scrupulous notes (mindful of tribunals / litigation, God forbid)
and I tend to ring managers or have face to face discussions with them. I find it's the best I can
do within the limitations of the way things are at the moment.
So I'm gathering that other OH services do give reasons for recommendations,
that this process is an unusual one? I certainly gave more information in my previous
OH jobs.
