Fox paw prints differ from dog as the two middle toes point slightly inwards, whist the dogs are slightly splayed out. I'll try and find what I have on wolf and get back to you on that one. - best wishes, Julie

Carrying on from the dog breed discussion, is there any way of distinguishing dog, fox and wolf from paw prints in Roman tegulae? We have several from a Roman public bath-house, and this is one of the questions we have been asked. And are there any references to paw prints in general which should be read?
From the comments posted earlier, I suspect I know what the answer will be, but just in case.....
