To rephrase what I wrote a few minutes ago, it seems that what most people
are doing is utilising (consciously or otherwise) an essentially
self-fulfilling definition of 'a revolution' of the small circle - namely
that a revolution is completed when the same point on the small circle
('the mark') next comes into contact with the larger circle. However,as I
said, before, if one defines 'a revolution' as having been completed when
the 'south pole' next points south, that's different.
