It good to get these comments from a friendly outsider who has a high
profile. He is an author and has presented at library conferences. He
presents some familiar challenges esp. around technology driven change. His
reflections on ebooks and the value of librarians ....(relevant to all the
recent debate on models for ebook lending..
'Librarians that are arguing and lobbying for clever ebook lending solutions
are completely missing the point. They are defending library as warehouse as
opposed to fighting for the future, which is librarian as producer,
concierge, connector, teacher and impresario'.
He ends : 'For the right librarian, this is the chance of a lifetime'.
