Subject: Re: Library Campaigns. What next?
I completely agree. Accessibility is about physically being able to
get
to the building, opening hours, layout etc.
I used to work in a library where the children's library was up a flight
of stairs that needed crampons and ice-picks (I exaggerate, but not
much) to
ascend them. Of course, mothers with babies in buggies found this
difficult. It was a Carnegie building by the way.
The point is that, for a library to be used, it has to be possible for
people to use it, and it is our job to make it as easy as possible.
Another reason for campaigning against what is being done to library
services across the UK.
