Joanna Trollope's article spelt out the ludicrousness of Gloucestershire County Councils plans using facts, figures and statistics highlighting the negative impact it would have on a largely rural and dispersed community and on the most disadvantaged people. It is an excellent piece, that was very well researched and we are very grateful for it. It is a shame that we have to rely on celebrities to speak out for us whilst the DCMS and MLA sit around and twiddle their thumbs - leaving it to the 10,600 and (growing) members of the public in Gloucestershire to fight the desecration of our library service which is the ONLY way it can be seen. Joanna also took note of the 5 former senior librarians from the county who are also raising serious concerns about what is happening.....This is not "hand-wringing" this is an outcry and it is about time that people in DCMS and MLA started doing their jobs and listened to.
As one of our 86 year old supporters said "they did not even make such cuts in the war" she finished by saying she will cry when her library shuts down as it her lifeline.
this is what Joanna was talking about and we applaud her for it.
