The Wales Cancer Trials Unit (WCTU) is a National Cancer Research Institute
accredited and Cancer Research UK core funded clinical trials unit based in the
School of Medicine at Cardiff University responsible for the co-ordination of a
number of national randomised trials in cancer treatment. The group currently
numbers around 40 staff, including statisticians, trial managers, data
managers, quality assurance managers and programmers.
We are seeking to attract a Senior Statistician with postgraduate degree in
statistics. Experience in the analysis of large data sets and in the use of
SAS and/or STATA is essential. Excellent computer and communication skills are
needed as well as the ability to become familiar with the relevant literature
(clinical trials and cancer).
You will be the scientific lead at the WCTU for a specific disease area(s) and
will be responsible for the development of the trial portfolio in that area.
This may include phase 1, phase 2 and phase 3 trials. You will be responsible
for all statistical aspects of designing, running and reporting of trials in
your area(s) and will ensure that all trials in their portfolio are running to
regulatory requirements.
Opportunities exist for methodological research of practical relevance to the
work of the Unit.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years.
Salary: £37839 - £43840 per annum.
