Further details:
NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is a Special Health Authority within the NHS, responsible for optimising the supply of blood, organs, plasma and tissues and raising the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of blood and transplant services.
The Statistics and Clinical Audit service of NHSBT provides a comprehensive statistical service to the transplant community in the UK, by undertaking analyses to address particular issues in organ transplantation, monitoring and evaluating organ allocation procedures and patient survival rates, producing regular reports on transplant activity, and responding to enquiries and requests for information from government, health authorities and the media. The service is also involved in observational studies in transfusion medicine and clinical audit.
This post is an opportunity for someone with a postgraduate qualification in statistics and substantial experience in the application of statistics in a medical environment to join a large team of statisticians and clinical audit staff and become involved in a broad range of statistical and management activities. The post will involve collaborative work with clinicians and others working in organ transplantation, blood donation and transfusion medicine and so the individual appointed will have excellent communication skills. The ability to work to deadlines, both individually and as part of a team, is essential and knowledge of the SAS software is also necessary.
