Workshop 07- CHCI&ID
International Workshop on Collaboration: Human-Centered Issues & Interactivity Design

(CHCI & ID 2011)

CALL FOR PAPERS

As part of
The 2011 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2011) http://cts2011.cisedu.info

May 23 - 27, 2011
The Sheraton University City Hotel
Philadelphia, PA, USA

Submission Deadline:  January 21, 2011

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
The 2011 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2011) is targeted “to address, explore and exchange information on the state-of-the-art in collaboration enterprises, their modeling and simulation, design and use, applications, and their impact.”

The 2011 International Workshop on Collaboration: Human-Centered Issues & Interactivity Design (CHCI&ID 2011) focuses specifically on the human-centered issues connected to collaboration technologies and systems. We are especially interested in the contexts of how human-computer interaction (HCI) and interactivity design are implicated in collaboration. The human-centered issues include the social implications of technologies and systems for collaboration, the sustainability implications, ethics, privacy, diversity and social inclusion, health, and other concerns at the nexus of human collaboration needs and practices and the mediation of collaborations by technologies and systems.

CALL FOR PAPERS
This Workshop on Collaboration: Human-Centered Issues & Interactivity Design (C.HCI&ID 2011) will be held as part of the 2011 International Conference on Collaboration Technologies and Systems (CTS 2011). We anticipate and especially invite papers from a broad range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary backgrounds. Special emphasis in the reviewing will be given to allow for transdisciplinarity in the contributions with wide tolerance and acceptance of the differences between specific disciplinary mores of methods and domains of expertise. Contributions may take the form of original research reporting, essays and interpretations, conceptual design studies, design case studies, experience studies, and other forms. Regardless of contribution form, accepted papers will be archived in the IEEE library (to be confirmed) and are expected to be of archival scholarly quality.

The workshop topics include, but are not limited to, the following concerns related to Human-Centered Issues and Interactivity Design in the context of Technology-mediated Collaborations:

    * Interactivity Design in Collaboration
    * Collaborations in the Context of Social Networking Systems
    * Social Benefits and Problems of Technology-mediated Collaborations
    * Bridging of Collocation and Distance in Collaborations
    * Values and Values-sensitive Design in and for Collaborations
    * Privacy & Security in Collaborations
    * Cognitive Models of Collaborations
    * Collaborative Decision Making
    * Gesture in Collaborations
    * Interaction Criticism in the context of Collaborations
    * Ethnography in the context of Collaborations
    * Altruism
    * Interfaces and Multi-modality in Collaborations
    * Usability Issues of Collaboration Technologies
    * Implications of Mixed Physical and Digital Collaborations
    * Implications of Collaboration Technologies for Sustainability & Adaptation to Climate Change
    * Ethics of Collaboration Technologies
    * Culture in the context of Collaborations
    * Diversity & Social Inclusion in the context of Collaborations
    * Human-centered Design and Humanity-centered Design in the context of Collaboration Technologies
    * Emotion in the context of Collaboration Technologies
    * Design Theory in the context of Collaboration Technologies
    * Feminist HCI in the context of Collaboration Technologies
    * Globalization in the context of Collaboration Technologies
    * Health Implications and Applications of Collaboration Technologies
    * Mobility Issues of Collaboration Technologies
    * General Contexts Collaboration Technologies

PAPER SUBMISSION
You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to human-centered issues and interactivity design implicated in collaboration. Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere. Submission should include a cover page. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author and include up to 6 keywords from the above list of topics and an abstract of no more than 450 words. The full manuscript should be at most 8 pages using the two-column IEEE format. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments. Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript to the workshop paper submission site at https://www.easychair.org/account/signin.cgi?conf=chciid2011 .

Only PDF files will be accepted, sent by email to the workshop organizers. Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews. Papers will be selected based on their originality, contributions, relevance, technical clarity and presentation. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted. Authors of accepted papers must guarantee that their papers will be registered and presented at the workshop.

Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the CTS 2011 Conference web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected to be included in the IEEE Digital Library and indexed accordingly.

If you have any questions about paper submission or the workshop, please contact the workshop organizers.
