Programme Leader: Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology Programme
British Heart Foundation Health Promotion Research Group (BHF HPRG)
Grade 8: Salary in the range of £36,715 - £43,840 p.a.
We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual to take the lead on the BHF HPRG’s Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Epidemiology Programme. The work of the programme consists of research into the burden of CVD and its risk factors and the production and communication of high quality statistical information about CVD for the BHF. You will develop the programme in new directions, line manage staff working on the programme (currently three others besides the Programme Leader) and supervise students working on related projects. You will also be expected to contribute to the wider work of the BHF HPRG and develop collaborative opportunities with other members of the group.
You should have a PhD (or exceptionally a Master’s degree in a relevant subject with relevant experience) and several years of research experience in the field of health statistics and/or cardiovascular epidemiology. You will also have a proven track record of carrying out research projects and of articles published in peer-reviewed journals. Excellent communication and people skills are also essential.
The post is offered full-time for three years in the first instance but with a very strong possibility of renewal and will be based at the Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford.
