We don't offer lactate in the lab, only on the blood gas analysers

Dear Angela,
We have lactate available on the blood gas analysers on ITU, A&E and in the laboratory. Most blood gas requests received in the lab also ask for lactate now and we probably would have difficulty coping if we only had lactate available on our DxC analysers.
Best wishes,
Gareth

Subject: Lactate for sepsis
Dear all,
Can I ask how different labs are approaching the Surviving Sepsis Campaign?
Are you going for POCT lactate or stick to the main lab? And if providing them in-lab, sticking with fluoride -EDTA specimens or moving to serum?
Thank you in anticipation.
Angela
