Dear All
I tried to send this when it was relevant to the flow of the list, but I was travelling and unable to use the email address I am subscribed under. But perhaps it will still be of some interest.
Like Klaus Krippendorff, I studied design (architecture) and then cybernetics (he with Ashby, I with Pask). Although we disagree about much, we agree about much.
Ove the last decade I have returned to this area and made a strong effort to bring design and cybernetics together in an articulate, and, to many, surprising manner.
One source is the special issue of the Journal Kybernetes I edited on Cybernetics and Design (vol 36, nos 9-10, 2007).
In case anyone is interested, I have placed my introductory paper from that issue, along with various others including one addressing design and complexity at
http://asc-cybernetics.org/systems_papers/
You will find publication details for the papers in a separate document, publication details.
The papers are lodged at the site for the American Society for Cybernetics (www.asc-cybernetics.org/), which some may find interesting, especially the conference held last summer, Cybernetics: Art Design and Mathematics—A MetaDisciplinary Conversation, which can be accessed through www.asc-cybernetics.org/2010/. Please feel free to visit. The conference site is very rich, though you may have to hunt around a bit.
