The NHS is facing major reforms. Providing information on all aspects
of health care is seen as the key to better health care and better
outcomes. As a result, there is a growing need for robust measures to
assess the performance of health care providers, both in terms of
clinical indicators and patient-reported outcome measures.
We are seeking an enthusiastic senior health services researcher who
can manage large projects and contribute to the methodological
development and evaluation of health care performance measures. You
should have excellent quantitative skills and extensive experience of
research or clinical audit.
This post provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to
develop a major research programme focused on the development and
improvement of quantitative methods to assess the quality of care
(including risk adjustment for analysing observational data, continuous
monitoring, record linkage, and the use of administrative data). The
post-holder will participate in a number of ongoing large-scale
epidemiological studies and audits of the quality of care in the UK.
The post will be based in the Clinical Effectiveness Unit, a
collaboration between the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine
and The Royal College of Surgeons of England. You will be part of a
multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians who play a leading
role both nationally and internationally in shaping and guiding
large-scale evaluations of healthcare performance.
The post is offered for a fixed period ending 30 June 2013. The salary
will be on the Lecturer scale (£41,312 – £47,313 per annum) or Senior
Lecturer scale (£49,983 £57,391 per annum), depending on quality.
