Some of the Anglo-Saxon crosses in northern England include reliefs that
have been interpreted, I believe, as Thor and the midgard-serpent. That
might be a fruitful avenue to explore. Iconographic studies of the
early development of the hell mouth would probably also include
references to Leviathan.
