Hi,

The Hong Kong Refugee Advice Centre ("HKRAC") is seeking a dedicated and
passionate lawyer to coordinate and manage all aspects of HKRAC’s
Clinical Programmes, including instructing and supervising law students
in client representation. Unique in Hong Kong, the HKRAC Head of
Clinical Programmes position provides experienced attorneys the
opportunity to combine their direct services practice with academic
instruction in the field of international refugee law.

Under the direct supervision of HKRAC’s Legal Director, the Head of
Clinical Programmes will train and supervise J.D., LLM and LLB students
enrolled in the HKRAC Refugee Legal Assistance Clinic, teach weekly
clinical seminars at Hong Kong University and Chinese University of Hong
Kong, and perform work on his/her own cases or other legal matters in
representing the Clinic’s clients.

The Head of Clinical Programmes will liaise with HKRAC’s partnering law
faculties. S/he will help coordinate HKRAC lawyer/caseworker trainings
sessions and may attend local conferences and meetings on behalf of the
organization.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, articulate and comfortable
interacting with diverse segments of society, from law faculties to
vulnerable clients. S/he will enjoy collaborating with HKRAC’s small
staff of tireless refugee rights advocates and wider circle of dedicated
volunteers and supporters.

Qualifications:

Qualified lawyer in any jurisdiction;

3-5 years of experience in refugee or human rights law, which may
include relevant academic course work;

Experience in instructing and supervising students or volunteers;

Experience working with interpreters;

Experience conducting intake interviews;

Excellent legal research and drafting skills;

Public speaking experience;

A demonstrated commitment and sensitivity toward vulnerable and/or
displaced people;

Fluent in both spoken and written English
