Dear all,
On Thursday 7th October Sandblast, in collaboration with the UCL Human
Rights Programme, will be showing the film 'El Problema'. 'El Problema'
is an award-winning documentary (Amnesty International Award San
Sebastian Film Festival 2010, Human Rights Human Wrongs Oslo 2010, First
prize at FISAHARA 2010). It was directed by Jordi Ferrer and Pablo
Vidal, Spanish directors, whose new and acclaimed work is based on rare
(clandestinely filmed) footage and testimonies from inside occupied
Western Sahara. It highlights how all physical expressions of Saharawi
identity are forbidden and even the use of the name Western Sahara or
the word referendum is a “problem”, El Problema of the unheard
Saharawis. The screening will be followed by a Q & A session with
Sandblast.
The screening takes place on Thursday 7th October at 6.30pm in the
Harrie Massey Lecture Theatre at UCL, London
