medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
A web-friend is interested in a passage from a sermon of St Augustine, a
short part of which on Egyptian burial practices is frequently quoted. I've
managed to establish that the passage is from Sermo 361 (De resurrectione
mortuorum), which is found in Migne's Patrologia Latina, volume 39,
beginning at column 1599; and I've been able to find on-line versions of
this. What I am hoping somebody on-list can tell me (since this is well
outside my own area of experience) is whether there is any particular
edition or translation of this text that it would be worthwhile to obtain,
should one wish to examine it in more detail.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
